Research shows that while students generally know DNA contains genetic information, they have trouble understanding how that genetic information is revealed and used. From the same company that developed the DNA Discovery Kit, this model has a unique design which allows it to flex and unwind. Your students will reach a new level of understanding of DNA. They can assemble the nucleotides, feel the hydrogen bonding of the A-T and G-C base pairs and discover the double helical structure of DNA just as James Watson and Francis Crick did in 1953. What’s more, they will twist and unwind the double helix to model DNA replication and RNA transcription. As one teacher said, “This is literally the diagram from the textbook that students can manipulate. It actually untwists between the two models!”
